It’s always nice for financial services to have a beautiful website. But when does it become necessary to do a redesign or website revamp?

Here are 6 signs that your business needs a website revamp.

1. Your Website Simply Looks Outdated

In many cases, spotting an outdated looking website is quite easy. However,  if you are not quite into web trends, it may not be obvious. The simplest way is to ask your circle of friends or network. If you would like to have a professional opinion, simply ask a few marketing consultants or agencies. They most likely won’t charge you to answer such a question and even better, they act as a great resource where they will gladly give you an honest answer with constructive feedback.

In addition, an outdated looking website does not only mean that it aesthetically looks old but that it also makes it hard navigating around your website to find the right information. Consequentially, a website visitor may just decide to exit your website quickly if the design makes it difficult for them to figure out where to go to find what they’re looking for.

2. Your Website Does not Reflect the Current Best Practices of Marketing

Buyers are constantly changing the way that they shop. This is why marketing is constantly evolving. Those who do not apply current marketing trends will have a harder time attracting the right clients and effectively closing them compared to those who do.

Current best practices will help you attract more visitors to your website, convert those visitors to leads and close deals better and faster. Inbound Marketing activities such as regularly blogging, SEO and creating free accessible eBooks on your website will renew your website into an active, dynamic platform with ongoing content versus what would merely be an online reiteration of a static business brochure.

3. You Are Not Able to Add Your Own Content to Your Website

Do you need to contact a programmer or web developer to change a sentence on your financial services website? If you still need to do that, you should look into getting a website developed on a content management system (CMS).

A CMS will allow you to edit and add content to your website on your own. This means that you can even create new web pages and publish blog articles based on created templates from the web developer.

4. Your Website Does Not Produce Results

Are you driving traffic to your website? Is your website generating leads for your advisors or sales team? Does your website content help your ideal customers to move forward in their buyer’s journey?

If your website does not have any purpose in filling the sales pipeline and helping to close more deals, it’s time to redesign your website.

The purpose of a website these days is more than simply providing a list of services, information about your firm and a contact page. As more and more investors turn towards online resources to find help for their pain points or goal, your financial services website should provide helpful and useful content that will lead them towards the right solution that fits their need.

By providing content on your website that is relevant and useful to your ideal investors, your website will naturally draw people to your website. They will either find you via search engines or be exposed to your content as you share them on social media.

5. Your Competitors Have a Much Nicer Website than You

When you see one competitor with a new website, it may be okay to hold off on a website revamp. But when you start seeing several of them having a better website than you with key features that you do not have, such as blogs and free resources, it’s time to up your game.

Come up with a list of competitors and thoroughly go through their websites. What elements of their websites would you like to have on yours? How are they constantly educating their prospects, leads and customers? Would your ideal customers find their content more helpful than yours?

6. Your Website is Not Responsive

A responsive website means that it provides optimal viewing based on the device being used. As computer monitors, tablets and cellphones come in many different sizes, it’s important that your website automatically adjusts to the size of whichever device your visitors are using.

Having a website that is responsive is crucial as this greatly impacts the user experience. When a website is not responsive, especially for mobile devices, it can be hard to navigate through the pages and read the content.
